Facing the debt for Christmas

Four people out of 10 will already debt, mortgage loans and student when they begin their Christmas shopping loans were found.

Moneysupermarket.com has commissioned a survey of 2,700 adults to discover their debt levels.

The situation is more acute in the southeast of England, the survey said.

"We know times are tough," said head of loans, Moneysupermarket Tim Moss.

"Our research shows that more than 20 million consumers will visit the most financially stressful time of year already in debt."

Some 69% will be the cost of gifts and festivities on credit cards, 23% use a loan will be discovered, and 8%.

The pressure seems to be strongest in the southeast of England where one person in five free debt consumers are looking to go into the red for Christmas, the survey.
