Mortgage deregistered "mistakes"

November 15, 2010 11: 53 GMT updated Clydesdale Bank both the Clydesdale and Yorkshire have agreed to cancel some customers of Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks clients charged too little their mortgage arrears have affirmed off the coast of requests for payment of arrears.

Customers took their complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), which has confirmed some of them.

The Yorkshire Bank said that "very few" customers complained successfully.

Borrowers have been informed in July, they were undercharged due to an error in the calculation of their monthly payments.

Both the Clydesdale and Yorkshire are owned by the National Bank of the Australia.

Interest rates have fallen over the past two years, the banks had improperly recalculated capital repayments that affected customers were supposed to do.

"The majority agreed it was a genuine mistake and their payments are changing to reflect that,", said a spokesman for Yorkshire Bank.

Extreme cases

Some of the customers who contacted the BBC in July said that banks should accept their mistakes and radiation arrears.

They argued that they were now asked to repay hundreds of pounds more per month for the other terms of their loans, to pay the arrears running in several thousands of books.

The Yorkshire Bank argued that it was of extreme cases.

"In the majority, it is a very small change in their repayment mortgage - half of people suffering from a deficit pay less £ 25 per additional month," said the spokesperson.

He explained that this figure, between 2 £ £ 3 was due to the last insufficient and the rest were implemented to make monthly payments to their correct level.

Success

The SSF publishes figures every six months on the number of complaints received for each financial institution.

They are distributed to the General topics such as banking, mortgages and insurance.

The SSF has refused to disclose complaints how he had received loans mortgage underfunding specifically, Yorkshire or Clydesdale, or what was the outcome of complaints.

However the Ombudsman recently explained that when a lender is entirely the fault it will be generally rule that arrears should be cancelled.

The Yorkshire Bank acknowledged that some customers had been successful.

"Some borrowers had complained to us and some went to the Ombudsman, said his spokesman."

He found in their favour in some cases and we are going with that.

"There are cases where the Ombudsman has found in favour of the decision we have made", he added.
